ABOUT PAUL
OLANDER

Paul Olander has been practicing for over 25 years and specializes in helping people see the changes they have been looking for in their lives.

Paul Olander licensed Atlanta therapist

Our mutual goal is to increase the ability to accept all circumstances as they are while simultaneously working on incremental & transformational changes.

Paul Olander, MSW, JD, LCSW, NBCCH, CCTP

My approach to therapy involves establishing an authentic, trustworthy and vibrant connection with the person in front of me, demonstrating that I hear clearly what they are experiencing and mutually developing a target of where they want to go. I integrate various clinical perspectives and interventions to get these components accomplished, including: Emotional Pain Intervention, Rapid Resolution Therapy, Trauma Informed Hypnotherapy, Eye Movement Integration, Narrative Therapy, Attachment Theory, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Internal Family Systems. I also have prior training in Cognitive-Behavioral and Dialectic Behavior Therapy as well as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing and use elements of those clinical orientations when they are useful.

My overarching goal is to help each person I join with function more effectively and powerfully in their life. The work we do together increases the ability to clear and focus internal thoughts, emotions and bodily awareness so the person can participate more effectively in all of their external relationships. Our mutual goal is to increase the ability to radically accept all circumstances as they are while simultaneously working on incremental or transformational changes. These experiences are endlessly exciting and interesting and require a mindful awareness from both of us.

In the past I have worked with individuals, couples, families and groups in both inpatient and outpatient settings as a clinician and as an Administrative Director. I am the Specialty Director of Behavioral Health and Palliative Care Services for a local hospital system and have been in the Behavioral Health field in various roles for over 25 years. My current focus in my private psychotherapy practice is on working with individual clients in the community. I specialize in clients who have experienced trauma, anxiety, unresolved grief, “stuck” depression, shame, and disruption of personal or occupational relationships, with or without accompanying substance abuse. As I have deep experience in working with physicians, nurses, other healers, and attorneys I understand the special challenges involved in their professions and am available, interested and qualified to help them therapeutically.
